The Manor Fire Station proudly protects the residents of the Penacook District of Concord. Fire, EMS, and specialty rescue services are provided 24/7 by a crew of one officer and four firefighter / EMTs who staff Engine 5 and Ambulance 5. Additional unmanned apparatus kept in reserve at the station include the Forestry 5, Tanker 1, Boat 5,a spare engine and a spare ambulance. The Manor Station was constructed in 1974 and has served the city for 44 years. Also known as Station 5, the Manor Station is home to the Fire Alarm Division which services the municipal fire alarm system and traffic lights for the entire City of Concord.
Penacook has many unique features specific to our district. The Merrimack and Contoocook Rivers are heavily utilized for recreational purposes in our area creating the potential for a higher incidence of swift-water and ice rescue situations. The Manor Station crews service the largest rural area in Concord that is without hydrant service. During a fire crews are often required to either truck in water from other sources or establish a water supply from a natural source. We respond to incidents on Interstate 93, which is the main corridor to New Hampshire’s North country. Station 5 is remotely located from the other three Concord stations which requires Manor Station companies to operate independently until backup from downtown companies arrives.
In recent years, Penacook’s population has grown, resulting in an increase in single and multi-family residential occupancies. We service more than a dozen high occupancy apartment complexes and an assisted living facility. Penacook has a developing commercial and industrial base as well. The area is being transformed from the mill and tannery village of the last century to a more diverse commercial marketplace.
Serving Our Community
Manor Station annually hosts the fire and police memorial ceremony as well as being home to the CFD Explorer Post where young adults work with Concord firefighters to learn about the fire service.
Members of the Manor Fire Station take pride in their partnerships with local schools in the Penacook district. Students from the elementary school are frequent visitors for tours and fire prevention presentations. Students from the high school photography program visit the station to photograph the station environment. And finally, the Merrimack Valley School District graciously allows on-duty crews to use their state-of-the-art physical fitness center to help us maintain a high level of fitness and health.
We invite you to visit our station and learn more about the Concord Fire Department.
