Neighborhood Street Paving Program

Neighborhood Street Paving Program - news flash

The City of Concord’s Neighborhood Street Paving Program has returned with GMI Asphalt LLC as the contractor for this year.

Work began in late March on Penacook Street from Rumford Street to Auburn Street. Sidewalk and curb work followed the week of April 5.

Perkins Street, Martin Street, Knoll Street, Wyman Street, and Bishopsgate Road are all scheduled for pavement reclamation during the month of April. Final pavement overlay for all of these streets will be applied later in the season.

Later in the summer, a shim overlay is tentatively scheduled for the following streets: Allison Street, Chase Street, Clinton Street (from Princeton Street to S. Spring Street), Cornell Street, Cypress Street, Dartmouth Street, Harvard Street, Morton Street, N. Spring Street, Noyes Street, Princeton Street, Rumford Street (from Pleasant Street to Albin Street), Springfield Street, and Yale Street.

Joffree Street and Wiggin Street are also on the schedule for pavement reclamation later this summer.

Work is weather permitting. Streets will be closed to through traffic and emergency vehicles during construction between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Residents who live on the street will have road access to their homes. On-street parking will also be prohibited between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Loudon Road is scheduled for a cold plane overlay in May from Main Street to Fort Eddy Road and from the Everett Arena to Airport Road. Main Street will also receive a cold plane overlay from Loudon Road to Pitman Street. This work will be performed at night and traffic will be maintained to allow travel.

The paving program is based on a 30-year paving cycle, with consideration of pavement conditions, since neighborhood streets have a life expectancy of 25-30 years. The City performs an assessment of road conditions every 2 years to prioritize paving for streets that need repair. Roads are scheduled for paving based on priority and available funding.

Residents that have a concern or paving request for a particular street can submit a request at www.concordnh.gov/seeclickfix or on the MyConcordNH app.
