CIP 478 - N. Pembroke Road Bridge Replacement
North Pembroke Road Bridge Update 12-08-2021:
The North Pembroke Road Bridge was officially opened this Wednesday 12/8/21 following the final inspection of both the City of Concord and the Town of Pembroke!
A special thanks goes out to all the residents of North Pembroke Road for their wonderful patience during the lengthy construction this fall.
North Pembroke Road Bridge Update 10-15-2021:
Significant progress was made on the North Pembroke Road Bridge Replacement Project yesterday when the final precast concrete bridge beam was set on the new abutments. This critical stage in the project was met with celebration from all involved including the Concord and Pembroke staff, the structural engineers at HDR, and the construction crew of Cold River Bridges. With the new bridge beams in place, the contractor is currently on schedule for opening the new bridge in the first week of December.
Update September 29, 2021:
Cold River Bridges is hard at work replacing the North Pembroke Rd Bridge. The Pembroke side abutment has been completed and the Concord side abutment will be completed this week. Cold River Bridges will be placing the beams on the abutments the week of 10/11. If you are traveling on Route 106 near the intersection with North Pembroke Rd that week you may want to seek alternate routes or be prepared for some delays. The beams are approximately 120’ long and weigh around 150,000 lbs each. So they will be difficult to maneuver down North Pembroke Rd from Route 106.
We are currently on schedule to open the bridge to traffic in late November contingent upon weather and unforeseen delays.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact the City of Concord Engineering Office at 225-8520 and ask to speak with David Cedarholm (City Engineer) or Todd Welch (Project Manager).
Update July 14, 2021:
North Pembroke Rd Bridge is in serious need of replacement. With funding from the State Municipal Bridge Aid Program, The City of Concord, and The Town of Pembroke that work is finally happening. Beginning July 28, 2021 the bridge will be closed to traffic so construction can commence. All traffic will be detoured down Borough Rd and Route 106. Please look for and follow the detour signage.
The project is scheduled to last to the end of the year but will be dependent on weather and other unanticipated construction delays. We appreciate your patience while we complete this important project for the City of Concord and Town of Pembroke.
The City of Concord is managing the project so if you have any questions or concerns please contact the City of Concord Engineering Department at 225-8520 and ask to speak with David Cedarholm, City Engineer, or Todd Welch, Project Manager.
